Happy New Year Lovelies!! Now that the holidays have come and gone, it's time to start diving into wedding planning once again. Some of you may think, "but I just don't have time". Well, one option is to hire a wedding planner to take on tasks for you.... (We'll talk later) You could also read the quickie version of my blog at the end or, if you're smart, (And I know you sure are) take five minutes and enjoy this great new product I'm about to tell you all about. Yes, there will be pictures, lots and lots of pictures.
It's so important to stay on track during your planning process, especially when it comes to the invitations. You need to be sure to send your invitations at the right time so that your guests have plenty of time to make travel arrangements and save your date before any other events come up. Some of the top five question my couples ask me about invitations that you should think about:
1. Do you have any recommendtions on where to buy my wedding invitations?
2. How do I word my invitations?
3. What do I include on my invitations and/or save the dates
4. When should i send out my invitations/save the dates?
5. We didn't take enegagement photos, do our invites/save the dates have to include a picture of us?
Well my friends, your questions have been answered!
I recently discovered a new invitation website called Basic Invite (basicinvite.com) CHECK THEM OUT!!! I was so impressed with how easy and customizable they have made everything, I had to share. Check out some of my favorite luxury wedding invite options:

How can you go wrong with a name like Laykin?? Or a really cute and unique way to talk to your invitees like telling them you each love each other? And you can't forget gold....who doesn't love some shiny gold text?
What makes Basic Invite great is that they have hundreds of different designs to choose from, or you can upload your own! Everything from modern bridal shower invites to save the date ideas can be found on Basic Invite which can all be personalized to enhance your event and style.. They also took the work out of trying to figure out the invite wording etiquette, but again, you can always remove, add in or change whatever you'd like.
One of the coolest features is how many colors they have to choose from. If any of you know me, you know how much I LOVE color and playing with new combinations to create something truly unique. You may have seen it on other sites, they have pre-designed invites but only offer two-three color variances which are pre-selected. For example, you see a gorgeous invite that includes green, purple and taupe, but one of the colors does not quite match your wedding theme. too bad! But on Basic Invite, you can choose almost any color for any detail shown on the invite. Change the color of text, flower buds, borders, backgrounds, you name it! Here's an exmple of some quick changes I was able to make to an Autumnal wedding invitation they offer that can be found here. You can further customize the color and type face of the text as well as the color and design accents surrounding the texts to speak to your preference.

No two people are exactly the same, so why should your invites be the same? Can you imagine how awful it would be if you and a friend getting married chose the same invite or save the date? Imagine the confusion your friends would have! (EEEK!) Is this a dual wedding? Which wedding am I going to again? I wonder if they know they chose the same invitation? Guess they went somewhere generic....
Oh no, not so with Basic!!
To make things even EASIER for you, they went ahead and made an envelope addressing tool for you, correlating accessories such as menu cards and guestbooks and you can even order a sample of your exact invitation. How frustrating is it to order a sample that has a fake Jennifer and a fake George together with their fake parents on their fake wedding day? I know I've been there before. No, no NO! You want to see your names, your details, your colors, what it will really look like and feel like out of that enevelope for each and every loved one you send it to. And then you know, "this is exactly what I want and its worth exactly what I'm going to pay for it."

Okay, okay. Now the uncomfortable part. Money. Yes I mentioned "worth" above and I'm sure you're all wondering. "How can something this easy, this incredible, this ME, not cost a pretty penny?" Well that's another Ah-mazing part of Basic Invite, they deliver great products at afforadble prices. Especially for those of you who are planning a rather large wedding. It can be tough to plan a wedding knowing you'll have to multiply everything by 400. But the more you order, the better the price becomes. Ordering in bulk is your friend. Even those of you who are planning for something more intimate, anything between 50-150 guests, it's always a good idea to order extra invites incase a set doesn't make it to your Great Aunt Sally, or you're able to invite some people from your B and C list or of course, one of the most important reasons, is to keep one for yourself. I've seen incredible things done with couple's invites. From photographers creating a beautiful scene with your invitation suite on your wedding day, to framed works of art that involve. It's a lovely keep sake to have documented, so be sure to add those personal touches and make it a true reflection of yourselves and your day.
Now that money talk is out of the way, time to address another question above. When do I send out my invitations/save the dates? Well, this depends on a number of factors that you can discuss with your planner. A good time to shoot for, depending on your meal preferences and other factors such as travel, is 2-3 months prior to your wedding date for invites and anywhere from 6-10 months for save the dates. What I found extremely convenient and helpful was the fact that Basic invite lists, right there on the screen you are looking at your invite on, how many days they estimate it will take to have the invites made and shiped to you. Wow, I mean really, how much more simple can it get? Oh, how about trying the live chat option they offer should you need some extra help, and you need it now.
I just can't say enough great things!! Time to go make up a "just because" event so I can order some pretty stationary to impress my party goers... Bye! P.S. Don't worry, you're invited ;)
